I help design, prototype, and implement development goals to ensure we deliver the smoothest and most valuable shopping experiences to our communities.
My career path started when my love of learning met my love of video games. A friend and I had been playing Minecraft long before its full release when we decided to make a mod. Armed with nothing but our idea, excitement, and a Java de-obfuscation tool, we kicked off both our careers. I got my bachelors in Math and Computer Science and felt I needed to round out the hardware aspects by getting my Masters in Computer Engineering.
I spent many years at Northrop Grumman, working on everything from engineering design tool suites to aircraft performance analysis. At Demand, not only do I get to continue learning from a first-class team, I help to shape and build products that provide great value and smooth user experience to our communities.
My first conversation with Mike, CEO and founder of Demand.io, touched on the very reason I was looking to leave the Aerospace Industry: real impact for real people. For context, this was amidst inflation and tech layoff concerns and we had been discussing the power of technology in its ability to reach millions. In that moment I realized that Demand’s mission both resonated with me and was exemplified in its platform: provide and prioritize value to communities, ESPECIALLY when they need it the most. Seeing and feeling Mike and the team’s passion showed me right away this was a special place.
Ownership energy. The work atmosphere at demand gives us all real momentum. It’s a special blend of respect, responsibility, and cooperation that makes interacting with the team an engaging and exciting daily experience. There’s also room to let passion manifest and allow you to take real ownership of process and product, which is an incredibly energizing aspect of life at Demand.
Food!
When we first met, my wife started to slowly turn me into a foodie and I haven’t looked back yet! I’ve become an OK cook and an excellent prep-cook. If we aren’t cooking at home, we’re determined to sample every GF and healthy spot in LA and OC.
Gaming
Whether it’s board games or video games, it won’t take much to convince me to give it a try. I’ve found that both keep my mind happy with plenty of puzzles to solve and also help to foster a great sense of community, in person and online.
Food, Again?
As much as I love eating food, growing it has become a beloved pastime of mine. I’m currently an active member of our community garden and I like to spend some of my extra time outdoors taking care of my plants. My go-to’s (depending on the season) are kale, broccoli, zucchini, onions, bell peppers, basil, and oregano.
Continuous Growth. As a lifelong learner, this core value speaks to my soul. I have the opportunity to learn from our first-class team everyday as we all strive to continuously grow together. That growth reflects in the excellence of our platforms. Our biggest enemy is complacency and adopting and maintaining a Day One mindset allows us to iterate quickly while ensuring continuous improvement.
